Christine Nixon and Julia Gillard to launch 'Fair Cop'

NEIL MITCHELL: The Prime Minister has launched the controversial book by former chief commissioner Christine Nixon.

Julia Gillard, who has read the book Fair Cop (despite introducing the book as 'Top Cop'), says the book deserves our attention and regard.

She says it tackles the role of women, accountability and our response to nature's cruelty - among other issues.

The Prime Minister did not weigh in on the debate about Nixon's leadership fail on Black Saturday, however.

Meanwhile, Neil Mitchell has slammed the book's publisher, Melbourne University Press, after its spokesperson Louise Adler launched a tirade against the media at the launch.

3AW BREAKFAST: There's been plenty of hype and controversy surrounding Christine Nixon's self-serving book, 'Fair Cop', but Sly Of The Underworld avoids the hysteria in his review for Ross and John.

Do you think Christine Nixon has been, and continues to be, treated harshly by the media in Melbourne.

  • Darrell, there's only two instances where a country can legally invade another. It has to be either a UN sanctioned action, OR an immediate threat to a country. Neither applied. This action was precipitated by the Coalition of the Idiots, and thus the Taliban had every right to resist by whatever means were available to them, up to and including training & equipping mercenaries or soldiers to assist them in the defence of their land & rights. End of story~! Gun diplomacy doesn't stand up in any International Court of Law. Let's just wait & see the result of the Chilcott Inquiry in the UK. I fail to see that Gillard has any more legitimacy to be involved in Afghanistan than Howard & Bush were. Ultimately, the Hague will decide.
