Ebay and Trading Post sellers will be targeted as part of an Australian wide search for online tax cheats.

Individuals and businesses with a turnover of more than 20-thousand dollars in the past three years will be targeted for transaction searches.

Roy Sanderson from RJ Sanderson and Associates said because overheads costs are low online, it means that user can make large profits from sales online.

The tax office said they are targeting people who have had sales of more the $20,000 in the past three years.

Ross and John also took callers who make a decent living from selling things on the internet. One caller also reported that up to 30,000 Australians make the majority of their income on ebay.

Do you sell things online?

  • What a joke, l know of someone that currently sells items on eBay via 11 or 12 different ID's, to avoid the Tax man, & his total sales are greater then $ 300k per year (all tax free), these people are very creative - but NEED to be stopped, fined & punished
