Hey Dad

3AW Breakfast's Peter Ford speaks to Ross and John every Monday and Thursday after 8am.

This week, Ford reveals the serious sexual assault allegations made by former child star, Sarah Monahan, who says she was abused on the Hey Dad set.

Monahan played 'Jenny Kelly' in the Australian TV program.

Ford also talks about a backlash against Lara Bingle PR man, Max Markson.

Breakfast with Ross and John

RossJohn172 Ross Stevenson and John Burns entertain listeners with their razor sharp wit and oddball humour every morning. And every day the best segments of their on-air - and sometimes off-air - program are published on 3AW.com.au.

  • DAZZA,
I SEE THE POINT YOU MAKE AND RESPECT THAT,I GUESS WHEN SARAH IS READY SHE WILL NAME THE PERSON INVOLVED,I HID THE FACT THAT MY FATHER ABUSED ME FOR YEARS, I WAS NEVER GOING TO TELL, UNTIL LAST YEAR I WAS ASSAULTED AND ROBBED ON MY WAY TO THE SHOPS, THEN WITHOUT EXPLANATION ALL MY FEARS, MEMORIES, CAME FLOODING BACK TO NEARLY BREAK ME.
MAYBE SHE HAS HAD SOME KIND OF EMOTIONAL UPSET THAT HAS TRIGGERED HER TO SPEAK UP.
I WROTE MY BOOK ABOUT IT,AS ABUSED PEOPLE YOU CAN LOCK ALL THIS AWAY UNTIL IT EXPLODES,ITS NOT A FACT OF WAITING FOR ALL THIS TIME TO PASS BEFORE YOU SPEAK UP, ITS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS TO
BRING IT OUT,MAYBE STRESS, TRAUMA,LIKE MY ATTACK.
YOU DONT JUST THINK, GEE ITS ABOUT TIME TELL, YOU REALLY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT AT ALL, IT JUST EXPLODES OUT OF THAT SECRET PLACE.
SARAH IS MOST LIKELY IN ALOT OF TURMOIL, OVER THIS COMING OUT,THE FEAR YOU FEEL IS UNEXPLAINABLE, YET I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PUBLIC ARE CONFUSED.
    THANKYOU SHARON RITCHIE

  • I think she is very courageous to speak out knowing some of the rubbish that would be said about her by the ignorant. Obviously this was a good way to tackle it as now people are either having to deny or acknowledge that they knew there was a problem - It appears that there was!

  • The person needs to be named, not only to verify Sarah's story, but to clear the names of the innocent. Every bloke who worked on that show, cast AND crew, is now under some sort of suspicion. Tracey Grimshaw said his name and it was bleeped out. Name him and stop it from happening to anyone else. 20 years this GRUB has been out there getting away with this. Why was nothing said earlier?? God only knows but lets get this guy away from OUR KIDS NOW!!!

  • actually, if you read the articles and watch ACA, it's obvious she has named the man. However, the MEDIA chose not to make him for libel reasons.

  • dazza,
    thurs 18th march,
child abusers have the ability to put so much fear into their victims,i am 48 now and my father abused me, you dont tell or speak about it as you are frightened, even now i think of my abuser and i feel frightened, i go back to that 8 year old girl again,he is now dead, but my fear still haunts me, i know what you are saying, but you need to understand that the girl no matter what age, still has that fear in her and always will, the dont tell threat to a victim really sticks.
