UPDATE: Police have confirmed the below Rumour File is true, but have not revealed the identity of the honest man.

RUMOUR AS FACT? 3AW Breakfast Rumour Filer 'Bulldogs Family Day' said a Victoria Police officer was planning to take the CCTV van to the event, attended by around 12,000 people.

However, when the apparently female police officer was driving to the Whitten Oval she went under the Victorian Street overpass, and with the vehicle unable to fit under the bridge the van had all of its cameras knocked off and onto the road.

The Rumour Filer said the officer was unaware she had lost the cameras and it was only the honesty of a 'well-known, football club-connected' person who returned the expensive equipment which saved the police force significant embarrassment.

  • Gerard, I could have made a 'tongue in cheek' comment about women drivers, but I know Caz, Justine & few others would have hammered me~! lmfao Perhaps Force Command needs to reeducate some of their drivers - LOOK UP AND LIVE~! Surely the driver can read bridge height signs? This is routine stuff that any driver of a large truck/van should know - bridge clearances.

  • Hope she received an infringement notice for "driving without undue care and attention"

  • Its more important for police recruits to pass the beep test.Common sense not required.By the way if you are a forty year old recruit it is assumed crims run bit slower for you than for a twenty year old.

  • That would be impossible,I live in Werribee and the ignorance and stupidity displayed by the local police surely couldn't be topped.
