AFL Grand Final Teams 2009

UPDATE 5PM
Robert Eddy has missed out on a shot at premiership glory after being dropped in place of Sydney premiership player Sean Demptster for Saturday's Grand Final. Meanwhile Geelong will go into Saturday's Grand Final unchanged, meaning 2007 premiership player Matthew Stokes has missed out on selection.
Dempster returns to the side for the first time in the finals series and will be one of four Saints with grand final experience.
Earlier in the year, he returned from a serious knee injury to play the last eight games of the regular season.
Eddy, 21, has played the Saints’ previous two finals, but managed a total of just 12 disposals in the two games.
But the big heartbreak story for the Saints is veteran defender Max Hudghton, who will finish what is almost certainly his final season on the sidelines.
Hudghton, who has been restricted by form and injury to just seven games this season, has been out of the side since round 20.
He is the Saints’ oldest player and the lone survivor of their most recent grand final appearance, in 1997.
The most unlucky player for Geelong is small forward Mathew Stokes.
The 24-year-old played in the past two grand finals.
He had played 10 games straight before pulling out of the side for last weekend’s preliminary final win over Collingwood with a groin injury.
Coach Mark Thompson earlier this week praised Stokes’ ‘‘selfless’’ decision to withdraw from the side for that match and said he ‘‘does deserve to play’’ in the grand final.
But he also said that the 22 players who thrashed the Magpies in the preliminary final deserved to keep their spots.St Kilda
