Gary Ablett's 'White Knight'
Geelong may have found its white knight to keep Gary Ablett at the club.
DONNA DEMAIO reports:
The club has been seeking off field sponsorships - outside of the salary cap - to keep the Brownlow medalist at Kardinia Park with the Gold Coast set to make a blockbuster offer.
The Herald Sun reports one of Australia's richest men, Nigel Austin who owns Cotton On clothing, could employ Ablett for as much as $300,000 a year.
The ambassadorial role with the company would push Ablett's earnings well above a million dollars a year in reach of the proposed GC offer of $1.5 million.
Any deal would be scrutinised by the AFL before being signed off.
