REPORT: As reported on the 3AW Breakfast Rumour File some time ago the AFL's 17th team will be known as the Gold Coast Suns.

On July 14 a caller to Ross and John calling himself 'On The Ball' said 'stuff has already been printed' for the Gold Coast Suns, prompting Ross Stevenson to say: "Some of the best rumours of all time come from printing factories.

Now, Gary Ablett (senior or junior) pick up the phone and dial 96 900 693 at 7am on Friday and let us know if last year's Brownlow Medalist is on his way north or not. Thanks!

Rumour File trumpet-blowing aside, the new club's nickname and colours were revealed at a Gala dinner on the Coast tonight.

More than 600 people turned up for the announcement, including AFL boss Andrew Demetriou who says tonight's event is a proud moment for all involved.
