REPORT: Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett rejects reports he was snubbed by coach Alastair Clarkson after yesterday's 21-point win over Melbourne.

Last week Mr Kennett was publicly critical of the coach and the players after two consecutive losses.

Mr Kennett told 3AW this morning he spoke to the coach before and after the game and claims a photo published in the Herald Sun this morning is misleading.

In his website column today, Kennett clarified why he choose to use the club's online home as a place to share his views.

"Much has been said by many in the media since my last letter to you. That’s fine, I can handle that. So can the Club. We are a family, we are a team, we are united, we are proud, and we are honest with each other. Not a bad place for any family to aspire to be," he wrote.

"Lastly, I would like to remind our friends in the media that my weekly letters are a valuable way that I am able to communicate with our 50,000 plus members. They are not written for the benefit of the press. My responsibility, first and foremost, is to our members, and I will continue to be transparent, open and honest with them."
