Alarming school suicide stats

The Education Minister's pledging to better monitor student safety and bullying with worrying figures revealing a significant increase in the number of students attempting suicide.

The Auditor General's found there's been a 38 per cent increase in the number of students attempting to take their own lives in three years.

Minister Martin Dixon says schools are generally safe but warns there are trends in society that are finding there way into the system.

Parents 'furious' over NAPLAN snub

Schools 3AW received a call this morning from Phil, an angry parent who is livid that his nine-year old son was told to stay home from school during the NAPLAN test because he suffers from ADHD, Attention-deficit-Hyperactive-disorder.
