ALP leaks hit Gillard
PLAYING NOW: Neil Mitchell phoned through from his bed (on the day when he's getting the big needle) to comment on the ALP leaks that threaten to derail Julia Gillard's election campaign.
UPDATE: Julia Gillard has responded to allegations she opposed a parental-leave-scheme and pension increases while working under Kevin Rudd.
The leaked reports are thought to have come from Labor Party sources which were aired on television news stations last night.
The Prime Minister says the government's already committed to paid-maternity-leave and aged-pension increases, so there's 'no-point' following-up the claims.
REPORT: Labor frontbenchers are rejecting speculation Kevin Rudd is behind leaked documents, revealing new Leader Julia Gillard as an opponent of paid-parental leave and pension increases.
The Coalition has stated the leaked cabinet documents didn't come from them.
The PM's commitment to paid parental leave and increasing old age pensions has been questioned, with media reports suggesting she expressed reservations about both ideas in Cabinet.
Information leaked to Channel Nine suggests that when the Rudd cabinet considered its paid parental leave scheme she opposed it.
It's also suggested that when they discussed increasing pensions Ms Gillard questioned the amount and while she didn't oppose the increase it's claimed she said that 'elderly voters did not support Labor'.

England has the House of Commons, America has the Whitehouse and Australia has the House of Horrors. Considering the hundreds of elected representatives and staff in our House of Horrors there must surely be a few competent and decent people. Surely. So what are they waiting for? Why do they not take decisive action to rid this country of this tragically incompetent and insidious government? If you will not do it for Australia then do it for your own children. You know who you are and you know how to get the job done so remove this government and for the first time in too long provide Australia with a government capable of guiding Australia through the challenges. As opposed to creating a never ending stream of challenges.

Where do our taxes go? The health care system is stuffed, not enough Dr's or Nurses. Public transport is stuffed, not enough coppers, roads are crap. Paid maternity leave? Well, I want someone alive to support me when I am old and grey. I know some people aim too high for a start but the days of single income families "surviving" are all but gone. Both my wife and I work, we have a modest mortgage and only two children but it only just stretches around our simple lifestyle. Ease up a bit baby boomers, things just aint what they used to be, even for those who aren't Gen Y want it alls

You can all get over it. I brought up two children on a single wage because my wife chose to stay at home and look after our children. There was no help from the government except child endowment which everyone got working or not. You young people are soft, don't know how to budget and you expect the government to pay for everything. Our taxes are for the betterment of our country for everyone not just mums and young people who can't save up a deposit for a home. Get rid of your brand new cars, stop going to night clubs and resturants and make a sacrifice for a change in stead of whinging about taxes and blaming the governements.

Until the person who leaked this comes out and admits to it. Then these leaks should be ignored. I could say anything under the veil of anonymity.
