EXCERPT: The curse of Adriano Zumbo struck MasterChef again last night, and this time it was Alvin Quah who came unstuck on one of the dessert chef’s elaborate sticky treats.
Faced with recreating an eight-layered vanilla cake called ‘‘the V8’’, Quah ran out of fuel before the finishing line. ‘‘Instead of a V8, I plated up a V6, with two layers of my cake missing,’’ he said after becoming the first of the final six to be eliminated as the cooking reality show races towards its finale on Sunday night.
‘‘My cake was a spectacular failure. It tasted good but in this case my presentation was so woeful that the judges couldn’t see past it.’’

VIDEO: Three of the six remaining MasterChef contestants - Adam, Jimmy and Claire - joined 3AW's Denis Walter in the studio on Monday for a mutual back-slapping session. The trio also took calls from listeners on the unbelievable successful show.

Love it, love it, love it! I look forward to watching it every night and thoroughly enjoy the drama and the comedy and skills which inspire my own cooking at home.
Love all the contestants and the judges are terrific as well.
What other show has this much appeal to both the young and old and everywhere in between?
