Andrew McManus hits back at critics
ABOVE: After a barrage of criticism has been heaped on the Australian tour of Whitney Houston - including by 3AW's Entertainment Reporters Donna Demaio and Peter Ford - promoter Andrew McManus granted Denis Walter a very frank interview to hit back at the critics.
McManus said the reaction Houston has received in Australia is embarrassing for this country's standing on the world entertainment stage and he also declares for every one complainer from Houston's shows he could easily find 100 people saying the performances have been fantastic.
Are you sataisfied with McManus' response to the criticism? Let us know, in particular, if you were at any of the concerts.
Do we need to see that?
REVIEW: Yet another strange, strange performance from singer Whitney Houston at her Melbourne show. Read, hear and view more here courtesy of Donna Demaio and Neil Mitchell by clicking the image on the right.

Heather, I don't take it personal but I've said it before that you could have only liked her show if you were a die-hard fan, drunk or have seriously low standards. Turning up and "trying her best" doesn't comply with the ACCCs statutory condition where it says that goods "must meet a level of quality and performance
that would be reasonable to expect, given their
price and description."I don't know you but for $200 per ticket I expect nothing less than a 5* performance like Tom Jones did on the same day only a few kms away (and he is 30 years older than Whitney!).
So, I'm asking for a refund based on this and if you're happy with what you got for your money, I'm happy for you.

Torben Friday 5th March, what a loser you are! I hope all the people out there are far too sensible to respond to your futile rant. She turned up, she did her best. So, you didn't like. That's tough.
I'd like to thank McManus for taking the chance on Whitney. She seemed lovely to me. I'd also sincerely like to thank him for featuring and supporting (what I consider to be) the best young singer in Australia right now - Anthony Callea. He was sensational. And for also supporting young Mark Vincent early in his career. Well done McManus.

Adelaide she was brilliant...gave more than most new acts I have seen in the past 3 years! Well done AMPresents for sticking with her. No one left the show as far as I could see, and she get a standing ovation. You bunch of wowsers, and how dare you ask for a refund.

No chance and no point trying to chase a refund. You most likely won't get one as "personal opinion" won't cut it for a refund. If she didn 't turn up or cancelled the perfomance then you would probably get your money back. The fact is that she did the performance. Some people liked it and some didn't: doesn't entitle you to a refund.

Hi everyone! I am taking this to the next level after I have contacted Andrew McManus twice without any success in trying to get a refund for the Whitney Houston tickets we bought for the Hunter Valley concert.
I have set up an email address for those interested in joining a possible class action law suit (if it has to come to this!) against the promoter. If you are interested in joining me, send an email to: whitney.refund at gmx.net
I am also looking for a talented IT person to possibly set up a website such as www.refundsforwhitneyhoustonconcerts.com.au where interested people can join our fight for our consumer rights.
Finally, I'd also like to hear from interested lawyers in Australia.
If you are thinking about getting refund, then join in and together I am sure we are more powerful to demand our money back. Plus, the website will create further pressure on the promotor to come to the table. So far, he has not replied to any of my emails sent to info@ampresents.com. You can try your luck there, but if you are not satisfied, then join our growing list of people who are sick of being charged for a show that didn't meet any standards that could reasonably be expected.

Andrew McManus is kidding himself. I am a huge Whitney fan and I attended the Hunter Valley concert and was disappointed. He stated people in Sydney were giving her standing ovations and at our concert that was also occurring - but not because it was a fantastic concert, more because people were willing her on. People were shouting 'come on Whitney, you can do it'. The back up singers, musicians & dancers were world class - but unfortunately, being there to see Whitney, the razzle dazzle did not make up for the fact her voice is gone. Whenever it got too hard for her she pointed the microphone towards the audience. At one point she was giving instructions to her musicians to 'go the verse' and when it got tough 'end the song'. She was breathless, couging and wobbly on her feet. People are not getting on the band wagon just expressing their disappointment at a very average performance. I am not trying to get my money back - I would have paid the money just to see Mark Vincent and Anthony Callea perform who were excellent (without the razzle dazzle). I have never seen such a mass exodus of an audience. I find it amazing that Andrew McManus said that she hit the notes. She most certainly did not, her voice giving out on more than one occasion. After several attempts at hitting the high note in 'I Will Always Love You' she finally made it, and honestly it brought tears to my eyes. People didn't leave the concert angry, just disappointed and sad that a clearly disillusioned woman who once was they loved (and still do) was allowed to publicly humiliate herself in such a way - clearly only to line the pockets of certain people. Shame on you Mr McManus.
