Angry Boys a hit or miss?
Listen to Pete Ford and Jim Schembri's reviews of Angry Boys below
The much-anticipated Angry Boys debuted on the ABC last night, and the consenus is relatively split down the middle. The reaction on twitter has been mixed, with some people saying it was racist and over the top, while others lauded Chris Lilley's humour as spot-on and brilliant.
Television expert Jim Schembri agreed that the show has its problems thus far, but overall reckons that Angry Boys will become a smashing success once viewers warm up to the American-style shock comedy and character sketches.
On the other hand, 3AW breakfast regular Pete Ford wasn't impressed with the show, claiming it falls short of the comedic originality in Lilley's first two series.
One caller told Neil and Jim that the show will perpetuate bullying in schools.
1.37 Million people tuned in to watch the debut last night.
What the Twits think:
scottgumbleton @3AW693 @rossandjohn Funny in patches but he's a bit of a one trick pony. Not 'genius' as many call him.
Beefcake_74 @3AW693 j didn't actually laugh at it at all. Very disappointed. Was more of a made up doco than a comedy. Will give it 1 more chance.
LoveMissLee Seen better days. "@3AW693: Was #angryboys funny? @rossandjohn want to know if you'd watch it again? Or has Chris Lilley seen better days?"
notalegend @3AW693 @rossandjohn watched it all..... mildly entertaining but certainly not "hilarious". won't lose sleep if I miss it next week.
DannyCrouch1 @3AW693 @rossandjohn Funny but not for everyone. I will be watching again.
tassiemum62 @3AW693 @rossandjohn Having not watched other 2 series, watched with interest. Laughed out loud and shed a tear! So much raw truth. Loved it.
ChrisNicholls @3AW693 It's feel too much like it's more of the same thing we've seen before. Hamish & Andy are witty to be funny - Lilly just abuses ppl
Kath_Kirk @3AW693 I'm a big fan of Chris Lilley's but only laughed a few times....Didn't really think it hit the mark?

I don't watch it and wait for a laugh. I watch it cause Lilley is brilliant at taking on characters and making them his own. If there's a laugh in it, that's great. But mostly Im just entertained by the way he works
