Who will replace Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men?

Ashton Kutcher could be the answer ... for today anyway.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the former That 70s Show star has agreed a "huge payout" to replace Sheen on the hit CBS show.

Sheen was fired from the show in March following his series of booze and drug-fueled benders and his bizarre tirades against producer Chuck Lorre and CBS execs during his media blitz.

The 45-year-old has filed a $US100 million lawsuit against Lorre and the show's production company for wrongful termination.

Les Moonves, CBS President, reportedly told Lorre, to "swing high" in finding a replacement for Sheen.

Kutcher, who has forged a successful movie career, has remained tight-lipped on the subject, writing on Twitter: “I'm starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I'll tweet it.”

The news comes just days after British actor Hugh Grant reportedly turned down a role in the show because of creative differences. Grant himself is no stranger to controversy having been caught with a prostitute in Los Angeles in 1995

Other actors who have been linked with the sitcom include John Stamos, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven.

CBS are expected to announce which actor will join Two and a Half Men in the next few weeks.
