Australia headed back to polls?
WEDNESDAY AUDIO:
Pres Conference - The three independents front the media
REPORT: The three independents who could decide on Australia's next government want access to the Treasury secretary before they enter any negotiations.
Bob Katter, Tony Windsor and Rob Oakeshott are set to meet Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott today and again next week when counting has finished.
Mr Oakeshott says the three want information on seven key areas.
Meanwhile, Mr Windsor rejected reports the independents would be acting in a bloc.
"We're in a group trying to organise a process," he said. "We could all head in different directions."
Mr Windsor said there was also another direction worth pointing out.
"If there's no goodwill displayed by both leaders ... if we can't see a future ... longevity in the parliament ... I won't support either of them."
"So there is a third option, and that's another poll."

Not something I would say wiithout due thought but Lenny is right! This democracy at work, like it or lump it. The parliamentary system is how it has always been. It is up to us to work out how to get the best out of it. I don't think this is it but we all had our chance to vote and this is what we voted for. In a democracy, you get one vote and you get to use it however you like and that is the only guarentee. Much of the world don't even get that? Suck it up people

@Alexas. England is in exactly the same position as Australia when it comes to fairies at the bottom of the garden getting into bed with established political parties to form government and they don't seem to be the laughing stock of the world. In fact half the redneck racists who post here seem to be migrating there if Labor gets back in.

To go back to the polls will cost $170.000.000 and i refuse to have my hard earned wages to be squandered on incompedendant party politics.

My view is we should go back to the pols and may the best man win.
Heaen help us if we have the 3 independant idiots running our country.
It would not be a democracy of the majoriy vote but again we would be dictated by a minoritydazza Thursday 26 August, 2010 - 9:32 AM -
We have had 2 ineffective Party PMs, Howard who got into bed with Bush, and lied to the world, and we are still being lied to about Afghanastan, then we had Rudd, who wasted Billions on Batts that killed 4 young men, many houses burning down huge amounts of corrupt money spent on school projects. Had the Independants been in a position to stop the incompedence we would not be in the position we are in now. Yes this country is a joke due to Party Politics.
