Barack Obama phones Julia Gillard
Warm wishes ... US President Barack Obama
Barack Obama has phoned Julia Gillard to congratulate her and 'personally commit' to enduring allegiance between the United States and Australia
The US President's call to Prime Minister Gillard was confirmed by the White House early today.
The President had “conveyed his personal commitment, and the commitment of the United States, to the enduring alliance between our two nations, which advances our shared interests and values”, the statement read.
“The President and Prime Minister agreed to work closely to ensure our common security and prosperity, in the Asia Pacific and around the world.”
It added that Mr Obama was looking forward to working closely with Ms Gillard at the Group of 20 and Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summits in November.

Change the law Julia Gillard so Australia's dont have to vote
col Thursday 9 September, 2010 - 8:54 AM -
Well Mr President... Julia Gillard has bought herself a potential three years in office at an absurd and unaffordable price to Australian taxpayers of some $10,000,000,000.
She will be the first 'squatter' to claim both The Lodge and Kirribilli residences as her refuges. The majority of Australian's didn't want her as PM or her destructive, irresponsible party back in power, and the vote numbers vouch for that.
Two brainless and inept Independents by the names of Oakshott and Windsor (Joker and the Fool) were responsible for such a farcical travesty. These two clowns will be dealt with accordingly come next polling day.
'Fool' Windsor claimed his decision to board Gillard's 'rat ship' was in order to secure Australia's $43 billion ('White Elephant' to be) National Broadband Network for rural Australia...?
He too, like Gillard has also failed to mention how it's going to be paid for...?
No doubt with borrowed money, and lots of it.
The senile coot wouldn't know how to fire-up a computer let alone understand the cost and complexities of such an undertaking!
Much like the fish that John West rejects, Windsor was the 'turd' the National Party once rejected. He's since sought vengeance and unfortunately got it yesterday.
As for the Australian Governor Generals backstabbing son in-law Bill Shorten, he'll be knocking on Gillard's 'squatters door' very soon to serve her a notice of eviction. Speaking of which; I hear a certain White House resident may also soon be served with one...???Gerard Wednesday 8 September, 2010 - 3:51 PM -
I buy both generic and well-Knonw brands. There are some items such that I wont buy in the generic brands however I tend to buy whatever brand is Australian made. Of course when I can find it!
