BLOG: Eastlink speed camera
The Neil Mitchell program received hundreds of calls late last year in relation to what motorists believe could be at least one faulty speed camera on Eastlink.
Tests carried out on the cameras aimed to dispel the allegations, but the feedback and complaints continue to flood in via the Eastlink 3AW blog. Do you have your own Eastlink camera story?
BLOG: Wellington Road Camera
The Neil Mitchell program has been campaigning for 12 months about the
apparently faulty Wellington Rd speed camera on Eastlink. The comments
and stories just keep coming! Connect with someone who may be able to

We've got pages and pages of posts but is anything being done?
I received my 2nd fine a few months ago, sent in a letter explaining that there is no way I was doing the alleged 115 km/h (I deliberately slow down to about 95 when passing under the bridge) but got a reply saying that the cameras have been tested and are working fine. So the next step for me, if I wish to dispute it is to go to court. And we all know how that will go.
So basically I have to pay the $234 and lose 3 points for something that I didn't do. This is not right. It has nothing to do with saving lives or "safety". It is theft, plain and simple.

I have also just received a speeding fine from the Eastlink Rowville Southbound Wellington Road Bridge. Guess what. 108kmhr detected and 105 kmh alleged. Is anyone investigating this? How come my cruise control saves me from every other camera on that freeway, but not at Wellington Road?

What causes these cameras to give a wrong reading is simple. These cameras are the only ones in Victoria that are placed under the bridge, so when a heavy truck goes over the bridge it causes vibrations that give the incorrect reading. It was due to vibrations that caused the cameras on the Westgate bridge to be turned of and they are still turned of up to today.

Brad, it is outrageous and we should be marching in the streets. Unfortunately it brings in too much money for the government, so it is not a waste of time and effort for them. They are lying to us and it is cheating. To make matters worse, they have managed to brainwash people like Mylene and Cheryl, who think anyone caught by this camera is a liar and a criminal! What hope have we got?

I have heard about the wellington rd bridge camera and have always gone under the bridge below the speed limit, almost slowing down with intrepidation. Yet i still got a fine for the 3rd of august alleging 105 kph, detected at 108 kph. WTF?

Iâ??m hearing all of you! Detected 112/109 â?? 29/3/10. What is being done? Are we guilty until proven innocent? How do we prove our innocence? How do they prove that the speed camera is correct? This must be killing our court system, surely they have more important things to hear! Have people who have taken it to court got off? How can a police prosecutor with limited knowledge of a speed cameras workings stand against us? This is a ridiculous waste of time, money and effort!
