Do we need a 'gay apology'?
Former High Court judge Michael Kirby wants a 'big Parliamentary apology' made to gay people - similiar to one Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made to Indigenous Australians soon after hewas elected.
Is Kirby, who went public about his own gay lifestyle while serving on the High Court bench, making a good point?
PLAYING NOW: Neil Mitchell slams the idea and discusses its merits with a gay activist.

A word I really am sick of hearing is 'Homophobia'. I don't agree with homosexuals on many levels and I am getting tired of their sensationalising their agenda but I am not afraid of them. Why would anybody be in fear of them. I just don't agree with them.

Gay Pride, Rainbow Flags, Mardigras, Harvey Milk, S/M clothing... Seriously... this section of the gay community has lost the plot, and they , unfortunently potray an image of gay people that does not represent the true whole.
I'm gay. I dont want an apology. What I want is for every other gay person to accept who they are without having to be so blatantly 'in your face' about it.
My straight friends don't hold margigras and fly the straight flag, they just go about their day... and so should we.
If we are ever going to be accepted by the wider Australian community we are going to have to cut out the eccentric crap and start integrating normally into society just like everyone else.
Who cares if you happen to fall in love with a person of the same sex, I don't believe anyone really has a problem with that, I don't believe the 'gay' prejudice even stems from being like this..
The prejudice arises from the minority of idiots who feel the need to tell the world we are all little pink fairies who need to be heard, and if you dont listen we will hold a rainbow mardigra and wear our leather gstrings!
Please.. go form an organisation and call yourselves the pink pansies and stop creating invalid sterotypes about gay people to the wider community.

Certainly NOT!
They have too many rights now; even the 'right' to have children by IVF, adoption or foster care. Don't worry about the children's rights to a mum and dad!
Homosexuality is a aberration of normal and it's time they admitted it. Leave us alone. And stop trying to make homosexuality normal when it's not.
Don't have homosexual 'right' to marriage. It is a God given.

Im gay, Now in regards to the poll question: "Should homosexuals be offered an apology, similar to Kevin Rudd's apology to Indigenous Australians? Yes 7% No 92%",
I wonder what the results of the poll would be if the same question was asked on a gay news website ? Also has the Australian government apologised to the gays who recieved lengthly jail sentances for sodomy a few years back ? Oh thats right we are all suppost to forget about that, well I and most gays don't.
P.S I wonder if you will actually publish my comment this time ?

Look at all the homophobic remarks, I believe the poll taken by 3aw website is not the correct question to ask.
I as I have previously stated do not want an apology, but what I want is acceptance, so could this question be polled.
"Do you believe that the Gay and Lesbian community should be able to enjoy the same rights as straight people"
If it comes back in the YES well then it sends a message that the community is more accepting. If it comes back as a NO it will only confirm homophobia is well and truly alive is our community.

Look at all the homophobic remarks, I believe the poll taken by 3aw webisite is not the correct question to ask.
I as I have previously stated do not want an applogy, but what I want is acceptance, so could this question be polled.
"Do you belive that the Gay and Lesbian community should be able to enjoy the same rights and choices in life that straight people have"
If it comes back in the YES well then it sends a messaage that the community is more accepting.
If it comes back as a NO it will only confirm homophobia is well and truely alive is our community.
