Posted by: 3AW Radio | 30 July, 2010 - 9:36 AM

PLAYING NOW: Damien O'Toole from the Melbourne Fire Brigade attended the accident a horrible accident in North Fitzroy this morning.

Justin Smith and Tom Elliott detailed how an unlicensed driver has been involved in a high-speed crash this morning in North Fitzroy.

Witnesses say that "the smell of booze was coming from the car"

Damien O'Toole told Justin and Tom that attending a scene like this is unfortunately a common occurrence.

REPORT: Police are investigating a double fatality in North Fitzroy which claimed the lives of a man and woman.

It is believed a Holden sedan was travelling north in St Georges Road shortly after 2am this morning when it lost control and struck a pole at the intersection of Miller Street.

The driver of the sedan a 17-year-old and his female passenger, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Traffic was blocked at Holden Street and Merri Parade for about three hours as police attended to the scene.

  • Keep up the good work reporting on these tragic events, however please be more aware of what is advertised on your site as you hear Justin Smith introduce the story it talks aboutr a 17 year old kid crashing the car in north fitzroy with a whitness stating a strong smell of booz, then look to the right of screen and there is an advert for the wine liquidation centre in north fitzroy, i think it must be an oversight but I still think its in appropriate

  • The slient truth is that we are all pleased that another "idiot" is no longer on our roads. As long as they keep killing themselves and nobody else - then that's good news for all of use who want to live.
