  • This would have to be one of the most irritating interviews I have listened to. I appreciate Richards honestly to discuss this issue as it sounds like he has a serious problem. What worries me the most is the total lack of responsibility, this blaze attitude and a total lack of care.
I was shocked to hear the 'blame game' being used as a tactic to push the responsibility of his own stupidity onto others, at the end of the day no amount of assistance will help if the participant isn't willing. The fact that he "hasn't been offered any " in regards to rehabilitation programs is a joke and I know for a fact at least one of these would have been offered because of his countless offences .
Sorry Richard but coming home day after day having to listen to the news and stories of people like you ramming into children or others because you decided to get sloshed and get in the car and drive causes no one to have sympathy for you.

  • Years ago I ran into a confirmed alcoholic driving his car. He was obviously extremely drunk. I breath tested him purely out of interest. Normally the crystals would at most change to green. In his case they instantly turned dark blue, and the tube became so hot I actually dropped it. On his first attempt he blew over point 4. Having never had a reading that high, at my request the operator double check everything. The instrument was working fine. On his second attempt he blew .385 and that was the reading he was convicted on. At the request of his family, the fines were reduced & the disqualification period extended. He may have lost his license for five years, but both he & wife thanked me before leaving court. His car was sold the following day & his wife drove him from that point on. It was a good result for everyone.

  • The solution for Richard, if he must drive when he has been drinking, is easy - STOP DRINKING!!
What a complete tool to think the fault lies with the 'system'!! He is 65 (!!!) and has not yet learnt to take responsibilty for his own behaviour!!??
Another example of the wider problems in society today:
    1) PEOPLE AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS
    2) PEOPLE POINTING THE BLAME AT EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING ELSE

  • I heard Mitchell and Richard.
Mitchell says he was trying to help him, but instead has probably driven Richard back to drink.
Richard was being quite calm and obviously it was a gutsy move and Mitchell just bored in on him.
Thank god Mitchell is not a Michael Carr Greig.
I actually turned Mitchell of and will keep him turned off.
