Gillard defends flood levy to the hilt
PLAYING NOW: Neil Mitchell asked the questions of Julia Gillard that have been dominating water-cooler discussion re: the controversial flood levy. Listen to her answers.
NOTE: We do not usually embed an automatically playing media file but this interview has had a massive reaction and has raised questions over whether Neil Mitchell was too 'disrespectful' to the Prime Minister.
3AW NEWS: Julia Gillard claims everyone in her cabinet agrees with the flood levy package that has been announced by the government.
The levy will cover just under $2 billion of the government's portion of the damages bill, the rest will be absorbed by scrapping a series of green programs.
Most of the money will be used on reconstruction efforts in Queensland.
It's believed some senior members of government have expressed reservations aout the levy, but in a heated exchange with Neil Mitchell, Ms Gillard has dismissed those claims as "nonsense".
She also denied political ambitions had nothing to do with the plan she believe needs to be implemented as soon as possible.

First Serial Rights offered.Gillard, you only know one dance,
That is the dance of arrogance.
Youâ??ll never make the house of wax,
If you proceed with Carbon Tax.We all know this, I donâ??t profess,
You made and then broke promises.
You were not even elected:
You put the last nail in Rudâ??s bed.Secret deals in little back rooms,
As masses, wear faces of gloom.
The earth chokes from global warming
As carbon tax con; does nothing.Juliaâ??s made the wrong selection:
Pay the price with an election.
And then will come the final hour:
Regrets come from losing power.End.
Julia Gillard has conned Australians again with her witty remark.
There is no denying global warming like she said. But carbon tax is not
The answer. Planting trees to lower industrial emissions is.Her spin Doctors are blinding all Australians including you.
Her latest spin: These so called 150 celebrities, politicians etc. Who have
Given Julia their backing: Canâ??t you see, they are millionaires, famous and celebrities â??upper classâ?? Of course they will back her up. They have got plenty of money, unlike the common majority who are struggling to make ends meet and hitting their heads on the wall.Fonda Zenofon Friday 3 June, 2011 - 11:28 AM -

Politicians play politics just like radio talk-back hosts being provocative. That is their jobs, and their roles are enshrined in the Constitution which we embrace and uphold. We radio listeners are not stupid. It would be good for Neil to let the Prime Minister state her views without being continually heckled. Bad interveiwing tactics, that.
