'New election' - 3AW's Neil Mitchell slams the independents
Oakeshott doing it for Australia
REPORT: Seventeen days after Australians went to the polls, the country could finally see a result today.
Three-independents, Tony Windsor, Bob Katter and Rob Oakeshott are expected to say if they will back Labor or the Coalition to form a minority government.
If they pick Labor, Prime Minister Julia Gillard will have 77 lower house seats, one more than the minimum required to govern.
If they choose the Coalition, Tony Abbott will have the minimum 76 seats needed to form government.
Mr Windsor says the Independents are just waiting for some final information.
Stress? Try farming, Derryn
HINCH SPEAKS TO WINDSOR: "That leaves Tony Windsor. He may go for the Coalition but that would tie it up at 75 a piece and for the sake of getting a government in place – for that stable and effective government they are talking about he could go Labor produces a Speaker and they govern with a one-seat majority 75-74."

I think all that believe in Democracy should stage a walk on Parliament House and demand our rights. We did not vote for this Government..she got 38% of the vote.
We did not vote for Death Duties, mining Tax, ETS, BER etc etc etc and more inportan we did not vote for SPIN and that is all the two independents gave us. After the prepared spin speech, both forgot and actually told the truth..one voted Labor because Tony Abbott would win outright if we went back to an election and Windsor would lose his "power" Oakeshott likes the limellight and liked the idea of being a minister (more money or Speaker more money and he could talk and talk and talk)DAWN RABSCH Wednesday 8 September, 2010 - 10:08 AM -
Seriously who do the National Party represent? Obviously not the man on the land. It's about time they took a long hard look at themselves. At the next election they'll ALL have to run as independents or be decimated.

I donâ??t think these three will be voted in at the next election infact it would not surprise me if they all resign before the next election, why? They got what they wanted, free publicity, thatâ??s all.

It's disasterous news for dugongs and turtles as the Labor party have ZERO interest in addressing the problem of the cruel, wanton killing and black market trading of these rapidly diminshing species. ONLY the coalition was prepared to address this this to the tune of 2.6 million.
My advice to dugongs and turtles is to head for safer waters. Australia won't help you.Justine Tuesday 7 September, 2010 - 7:01 PM -
i thought it was australian people who had to vote seems like we dont matter,we should have gone back to the polls to be fair..
