MasterChef keeps on cookin'
Television viewers' interest, in fact, all-out-obsession with cooking reality shows hasn't waned.
Last night 1.656 million people watched the second episode of MasterChef after a solid 1.57 million watched the first show on Sunday night (which pipped the Logies as the most watched event of that evening).
The Top 50 Masterchef contestants were the focus of last night's show. The regular judges George Colombaris, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan are all back, while Matt Moran has been introduced as a regular guest judge.
And yet, Masterchef wasn't the most watched show across the nation last night. The Biggest Loser finale, also on Network Ten (another reality show) was watched by 1.682 million people, during which Emma Duncan took home the title.
Footnote: The finale of Masterchef last year raked in an impressive 3.9 million viewers while the most watched show ever on Australian television remains Channel Seven’s coverage of the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics with an estimated local audience of 6.5 million
