Melbourne water restrictions eased
Water restrictions in Melbourne are being eased to Stage Two from the middle of next week.
The new rules will mean gardens can be manually watered at any time and cars washed at home, for the first time since 2006.
The city is moving to Stage 2 restrictions from September 1.
Water Minister Tim Holding says the restrictions haven't been that low since 2006.
Premier John Brumby says it's due to good winter rain and government projects like the north-south pipeline.
The Nursery and Garden industry says today's announcement by the Brumby Government to ease water restrictions in Melbourne will pump an estimated 100-million dollars into business -while boosting jobs.
Stephen Potts from the Nursery and Garden Industry is confident gardeners will continue to be water wise.

Desal plant - 15 BILLION? Brumby, sometimes I wonder what exactly goes through your miniscule brain~! Minimum 500mil every year regardless? The MOST expensive ticketing system & the MOST expensive 'Smart Meters'. Shortly (given this government's track record on monumental financial disasters), most likely to be the MOST expensive Solar Power~! Get on board everyone, the Labor dollars are flowing in Victoria. Got some insanely expensive idea to make a buck? Five G's up front and you're in like Flynn~! Perhaps we should just bottle this desal water, slip in a bit of gas, slap on a label, & call it Suckers Champagne, considering the money it will cost~! But hey, Brumby has promised us a 'budget' version of a Crime Corruption Commission (unlike the other states), just to save money~! The guy has such a caring heart - pardon me whilst I vomit~! We not only get a Premier, but we get a FREE comedian thrown in as well~! Perhaps if we had a Police force spending less time investigating Whistle Blowers & MORE time investigating systemic crime & corruption, we may actually achieve something~!

Desalination = Victorian taxpayers

What an insult. How stupid do these polies think we are? An obvious desperate attempt to win more votes while at the same time getting consumers used to using lots of water again to pay for the desalination plant. For those who don't see this, wait till you start getting water bills with the new rates which have been gradually creeping up. Surely no-one thought the government was paying for this plant!

1. restrictions have NOT been lifted, but eased to stage 2.
2. easing the restrictions does mean you HAVE to use more water. if you do not support the move, then just continue doing the same.

"beware of greeks bearing gifts" even though Timbo is not greek we should all beware and would this gift be offered now if the state election were next year??

We have become used to the current restrictions and seen how effective they are in saving water. Leave the restrictions as they are currently.
