The Facebook group which was opened last week and called 'Where In The World Is Herman Rockefeller' - a play on words relating to the computer game 'Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego' - changed its name out of respect for Rockefeller's family following police charging two people with the Melbourne millionaire's murder.

The group was initially set up for members to speculate on the missing person's case which had has had national interest since Rockefeller's disappearance on Thursday, January 21 - the same day police believe he was killed by Mario Schembri and Bernadette Denny in a Hadfield house.

The creator of the group renamed it 'Condolences To Herman Rockefeller's Family and Loved Ones' after news broke of his confirmed death.

Some of the malicious comments that were placed by some of the group's 858 members have also been removed as a mark of respect as mourners and members of the public following the story continue to leave messages.

"It's so sad that something like this happens to such a kind-hearted, loving family like the Rockefellers. I cannot imagine the suffering you are going through and you have my sincere and deepest condolences," 'Tom Allen' wrote on the wall.

"It's a sad reflection of our society that my first thought when I heard he was missing was the he was already murdered. I can't even imagine what the family is going through having their worst fears confirmed. I hope Australians can be supportive of this 'poor' family and not just cynical because they are financially successful," was left by 'Sandra Summers'.

"It was unfortunately the outcome I expected. Condolences to the Rockefeller family ... what a terrible way to lose someone you love. Hope all the people that were making terrible jokes have a guilty conscience. That still small voice in the back of your head can sometimes be too loud for comfort," was placed by Angela Bullock Olofsson.

Along with the messages of support being placed on the group's wall, some people have used the forum to discuss whether the death penalty should be handed down to the alleged murderers should they be found guilty of the crime.

The co-accused are due to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Monday.

'Swingers' link to 'killers'

It's believed police will allege the pair accused of murdering Herman Rockefeller met the millionaire businessman through a 'swingers' website. Read more and view the murder case file in images.

  • I can't imagine why a man like Herman Rockefeller felt the need to meet a couple of sordid people for sex which ultimately led to his death. It's so sad for the family.

  • I know you swingers out there get off on swapping partners and other imoral acts, but what good comes out of it. You have your sexual relief for awhile and then you are back for more and along the way hurting the ones closest to you. Herman seems like a really nice guy but what has he done to poor Vicky? He obviously didn't want to hurt her, now he has and now he can't explain himself. Before you get involved in this type of activity, think about the ones around you and what hurt you may cause. To Vicky: I hope your hurt subsides and only remember Herman for the good he did.
