My Flag idea
The kangaroo screams Australia, wherever you're from - Africa, South America, Europe.
The Southern Cross is an important national symbol - we're the land of the Southern Cross. It overlooks us every night, and it was an important navigational tool for the early settlers finding their way here.
The Commonwealth/Federation star recognises how the British colonies became the nation of Australia. We can't deny Britain played a major role in our history, and nor should we.
The colours are obvious. Our indigenous Australians deserve significant representation for their 40,000 years here.
And there's a thin, blue line around every star, to represent the seas and the skies that people have travelled across, to make this place their new home.

It stikes me that the vast majority of those who want to change OUR flag have one thing in common - they have Irish heritage.
Me, I can proudly announce not one drop of Irish blood flows through my veins.
May God save the Queen and our flag.Milkingman Friday 19 February, 2010 - 6:26 PM -
my journey into Australia began 150 years ago when my ancestors arrived here, all the men in my family went to war to protect this country, and if the japanese had taken it,they wouldnt have said sorry.I get very irritated when someone sais to me that I am not Australian,I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world but here,I am also really annoyed at boat people,if they are having problems in there own countries its no good here with there soap ,better to try and fix the problem, what we have is a lot of very cunning ferals who know exactly how to get what they want, its time to change tactics forget about the swinging door and say NO to all who come her illegally, and further more it well over due that we started bringing more Euopeans again justto balance things up a bit,let Polititions forget about bringing in jumbo and boat loads of potential votes and start thinking about what is the right thing to do.Let us all start working toward a a FAIRER system for AUSTRALIANS that is those who are patriotic to this wonderful country, lets do away with cheating, corruption and yobbo behavior, even if its only so that I dont have to lock my door and take my phone with into the backyard to hang my washing, and lets have an election on current issues and what needs fixing and not disgusting lop sided coverage.

Looks as if Kevin Sheedy might have designed it when he was still at Essendon.

Love it! Distinctive and instantly recognisable. One small point, how about making the top black stripe navy blue - sea and sky are very Australia in orinins of us all and our life style, the darker blue still holds the basis of the Aboriginal flag this is fundamentaly based on but is not so gloomy.
