  • Simon Overland is an utter disgrace.
Photographed with Gays who mock and ridicule innocent nuns clearly demostrates he thinks there is nothing wrong with active discrimination against the Church.

To support offensive behaviour like this clearly shows he is not suited to the job.

    Silly Simon.

Why is Victoria stuck with this unwise Clown.

  • I agree that Black Saturday was a horrible and tragic event in our history but why does "everyone" have to be so sad and solemn. I was in the pride march and I was there to celebrate my life and the way I choose to live it. Maybe if all these so called straights came and had a look for themselves and took some time out from being narrow minded they would see we are celebrating something wonderful. I do agree that a few in the gay community are always crying fowl but there are even more of those types of people in the heterosexual community. You can't please all the people all the time. I dare everyone to google the Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence and just have a look at why they dress up as nuns. I am catholic and am proud of it but when my church found out I was gay I was turfed out and some of my closest friends wouldn't even aknowledge me in the street. I don't find that very Christian.

  • Mr Overland - Aside from the ridiculous suggestion that it is somehow important for the Commish to be present at such marginal events (rather than at places where REAL needs have a priority), I wonder whether you would march in another march?
This march would celebrate the diversity of heterosexuality. Heterosexuals come from very diverse educational backgrounds, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and economic and social backgrounds. We could call this march The Straight Parade. Potentially, this could be the biggest marches in history. Or would you only march if we were a marginal minority group who continually cry "homophobia" whenever the "straights" don't do as 'they' wish?

  • The office of the chief Commisioner has become a joke and a laughing stock. It started with Christine and the cancer is running rampant. The chief commisioner in these times is no more than a political puppet who dances and plays with the minority groups at the expense of the general community. The task of providing a safe community and detecting offences and prosecuting offenders has been put to the rear in favour of political correctness and bowing to minority groups. Victoria needs a good strong chief commisioner who is dedicated to law ebforcement and he should not be chosen by one man ie: Brumby. Let the public chose the best candidate who will serve the people. Let us vote on the candidates. We need a real copper in this post not just an academic who has never worked the streets or even seen an angry person as our last 3 chiefs are and have been.

  • Simon Overland knew the day was a day of national mourning. He may have gone to Victoria's inter-faith religous service; but why then did he not go and visit bush-fire victims in disaster areas. Simply put, he does not understand community needs, the role of a police commissioner and state based policing. He's a product of national policing in the AFP and his decisions reflect his background. Finally, Christine Nixon brought him to Victoria and slavishly supported him for the top job. Perhaps the genesis of collapsing confidence in police rests with the government who chose Nixon as police commissioner on grounds of gender rather than ability and performance and gave her free reign in the police. • Well, why didn't you join other police members at some of the memorial ceremonies yesterday for Black Saturday - Far more important than marching with the gays - You don't have to follow in NIXON'S steps - get you priorities right!
