Police investigate wild street riot
ABOVE: Watch YouTube footage posted by some of the idiots at the protest gone wrong in Oakleigh on Friday night. If you know anyone in the above footage please contact Crime Stoppers. 3AW has attempted to edit out all swearing in the above video but apologise if there is some muffled obscenity audible.
TUESDAY: Two men have handed themselves in to Frankston police this morning over Friday night's riot at Oakleigh.
It follows a similar move by 21 year-old Narre warren man, Maxwell Brett Lawson, who presented himself to police yesterday.
He's been charged with one count each of riotous behaviour, affray and criminal damage. Police say they've identified other people involved in the riot and are calling on protesters to hand themselves in.
SATURDAY: Police are turning up the heat on the people responsible for the riot that occurred last night at Oakleigh.
Crowds gathered in the area to protest against the cancellation of the 'Easter Nat' event and police believe numbers may have been in the vicinity of 2000 people.
Investigators are gathering surveillance footage and images capturing the criminal conduct of protestors in the area.
A media photographer suffered minor injuries whilst he captured vision of the offending and police will be investigating those responsible for the assault.
Damage to the Bob Jane T-mart franchise on the corner of the Princes Hwy and Warrigal Road may be in excess of $50,000 and police are also investigating allegations of the theft of wheel rims and tyres from the display window.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Neville Taylor said the behaviour was deplorable but the crimes were committed by only a small number in the crowd.
At a Press Conference, Commissioner Taylor gave this message to those responsible,
"We have good footage of the incident and it is only a matter of time before you are identified. I advise you to turn yourself into police now and show you have some kind of conscience."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.

Shows how people are brought up. Bad upbringing!
Cancellation happens everywhere even among individuals and there is no need for such uncivilized act.

The only time the police tool up is when it is a political protest against the government. Then they can't wait to weigh in with full riot gear, batons, capsicon spray and horses. But when some innocent taxpayer's business is being trashed by a bunch of idiots who think it's all a big joke then our brave boys in blue won't lift a finger to stop it.
This will happen again because these hoons think they can get away with it.Sidney Blue Tuesday 23 March, 2010 - 1:35 PM -
I am worried very worried. These louts had no fear when all of the police were present. But worst again is the Police did absolutley nothing!! If Im caught speeding 5kms over the limit or get caught using my mobile whilst driving I would be pulled up, booked and treated like a murderer(sic). Yet these hoons vreate real havoc, real danger, destroy property and injury people and the police do absolutely nothin. Not 1 arrest! What a joke and what signal does that send to the hoons??? Heaven herlp us all!! Overland in my opinion you and your command are a joke at the moment. Get out there and Police!! Get the Army to help you if you a scared to do your job properly!

When Hinch had his rally two men and a dog turned up with weeks of publicity and these hoons get literally thousands using only social networking. Shows the priority of Melbournians.
