Police shut down Melbourne drug labs

Police have charged five people following a five month investigation into an alleged syndicate responsible for manufacturing amphetamines in the northern and western suburbs.

Mill Park police, together with assistance from the Clandestine Laboratory Squad executed search warrants at residences in both Wedge Street and Carlisle Drive at Epping at 5.30pm and an industrial property at Industrial Drive Sunshine West at 8pm yesterday.

As a result of the raids, police uncovered three clandestine laboratories producing amphetamines. A quantity of explosives and detonators were seized from the address in Wedge Street.

The laboratories at Carlisle Drive and Industrial Avenue are currently under police guard and will be dismantled today.

36-year-old Glynn Peterson and 41-year-old Robert Carroll from Epping appeared in an out of sessions hearing, along with 34-year-old Donny Misilei of Mill Park and 46-year-old Mark Mamo of Sunshine West.

All were remanded and charged with drug trafficking and possession of materials used for the manufacture of amphetamines with Carroll also charged with possession of explosives.

The group will appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today and joining them will be a 39-year-old Epping woman who was bailed by police to appear on drug charges.
