WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23: Former police whistleblower Simon Illingworth says the handling of the police investigation into a rape accusation against Stephen Milne was "strange".

He says his wife Sarah worked on the case in the Victims Advisory Unit and told him numerous times how strange it was.

He claims the officer handling the 2004 case, former detective senior constable Scott Gladman, wouldn't trust internal mail, would only talk to Sarah in the street or carpark and told her not to speak to anyone from the Criminal Investigation Branch.

Chief Commissioner Simon Overland says the case could be re-opened.

Blog comments Your Say

  • Does anybody find it strange that VicPol is running this case through the media?
Every move, every step yet it is dragging an individual to the fore to act as a foil for VicPol.
They will not release rosters yet a person is fair game as it suits their game.
