Embattled St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt’s controversial off-season has continued with reports he was involved in a scuffle sparked by the naked image of him distributed via a public website.

The Age newspaper’s Martin Blake broke the news Riewoldt ended up ‘shirltess’ after a scrap with two men outside a South Melbourne eatery.

“St Kilda has been told that Riewoldt last night was verbally abused and accosted by the men, who approached him waving an iPhone showing a copy of the controversial nude photograph that has been the subject of recent debate,” wrote Blake in The Age.

Riewoldt is believed to have responded to the taunts by brushing himself past one of the men, which apparently led to the scuffle.

The Saints were made aware of the incident by Riewoldt, who is understood to be shattered over the so-called ‘Dikileaks’ scandal, where a naked image of him and team-mate Zac Dawson was publicly distributed by a 17-year-old female who 3AW has chosen not to name.

The teenager also released a naked image of St Kilda player Nick Dal Santo, who is yet to speak publicly about the scandal.

A Victoria Police spokesman said he was aware there had been an alleged incident.

The latest non-football story to rock St Kilda comes on the back of the club confirming it will travel to New Zealand for a week from January 22-29.

“We’ve been planning this trip for a long time and all the players and staff are really excited for the challenge ahead” coach Ross Lyon said in a statement released shortly before news of the Riewoldt incident broke.
