ABOVE: A man who lost his leg in crash - going 130km/h and with a blood alchol reading of 0.19 - speaks to Neil Mitchell about his terrifying experience, which he says was caused by an inexcusable stuff-up.

There have been calls for this interview with Mathew Liddell to be played to young drivers as part of beefed-up driver education.

Email Mat Liddell's mum sent Neil Mitchell after hearing interview:

"Good morning Neil,

I am Mathew Liddell's mum. Yes, the accident changed Matt's life but it has been positive change.

To use Mat's words "it has made me a better person".

As a mum, to receive the phone call that your child has been in an acccident is hard to describe.

Mat has been been through so much and even though we are the lucky ones that he survived it broke my heart. After 18 months, at times, it is still hard to cope with."

'.287 - that's almost dead!'

3AW Radio has confirmed a 47-year-old man who reversed into a car outside the funeral of Mill Park crash victim, Anthony Iannetta, has recorded a Blood Alcohol Reading of .287. Read more.
