REPORT: The couple charged with murdering Melbourne multi-millionaire Herman Rockefeller were this morning remanded in custody by Victoria's Chief Magistrate.

Mario Schembri, 57, and Bernadette Denny, 41, entered Melbourne Magistrates Court with two custody centre officers to face a filing hearing of the charges.

Mr Rockefeller, 52, was found dead in Glenroy last week after he disappeared eight days earlier following an interstate business trip.

Both are accused of having murdered Mr Rockefeller at Hadfield, in Melbourne's north, on January 21.

Schembri, tanned with a shaved head and wearing a white T-shirt, sat separate from Denny, who wore an orange zip-up jumper.

Strands of Denny's long, dark hair fell over her face while Schembri leant forward and turned his head towards her a number of times in what appeared to be an attempt to get her attention.

She sat almost unmoving throughout the 10-minute hearing, her gaze fixed on Chief Magistrate Ian Gray.

Prosecutor Cath Sedgwick said a brief of evidence would be served on their lawyers by April 12.

Denny's lawyer, James Dowsley, asked that she be provided while in custody with two types of medication, including one for arthritis.

Schembri's lawyer, Bridget Coath, said her client did not have any custody management issues.

Schembri, of Wallan, and Denny, of Hadfield, were remanded to appear for a committal mention on May 24.
