Sarah Cumming 'slapped on wrist'
I wore a low cut dress to our work Christmas drinks the other day.
When I wear this dress I certainly get comments, but I take them all as compliments. I wore that dress because despite it being a work function it was after hours.
I wear the dress because I think it looks nice, it makes me feel good about myself and it covers mother's rule: if it's low cut at the top it should be low at the skirt as well (the reverse is too true).
Unfortunately in the case of Channel 7's Sarah Cumming we dont know if her skirt is long in order to balance out the skin to fabric ratio.
Sarah Cumming is a beautiful woman with a wonderful figure. As a woman I hate it when women drag down other women and criticise (it's usually out of jealousy) but I want to issue a slap on the wrist.
That outfit (see right) is not appropriate for reading the news.

The fact that just a simple image of a newsreader on a website can evoke a reaction online such as "I have no idea why that picture is there but I don't care" is indicative of the fact that you're no longer being looked at for the news, but for another reason entirely.
I admit, this is television. We all want to look at attractive individuals informing us of the days tragedies, but I like my news the old fashioned way; presented by older men in suit and tie, or by excruciatingly thin mature women dressed in modern conservative tops and wearing too much rouge.
I know there has been a turn towards more relaxed news reporting with programs such as Morning TV news/variety programs or 7PM Project but in all instances the dress code is strict. You can change your tone of voice in an instance but you can't change your wardrobe.
I wish this journalist all the best with her future newsreading, but perhaps Ms Cumming should invest in something called a modesty panel to avert potential future low cut tops causing the news to go low brow.

Nicole Denton produces 3AW Breakfast and is heard on the program with Ross and John as 'Ruth Serum'. She also joins Denis Walter every Tuesday for 'The Generation Gap.

What a bunch of prats you AM radio on-air personalities are!
"Oooh, it's just not right for her to read News and have cleavage"... I can't believe how up yourselves you characters are, thinking that anyone gives a damn about anything you say!

Get a life. Its not like she had her boobs resting on the desk. Cleavage is so 'last season'. Its all about side cleavage this year. Good on her. I would prefer to watch her read the news than listen to Neil Mitchell.

What a lot of wowsers. Jealousy is a terrible thing. All the people making adverse comments need to grow up. There are a lot of worse things on TV. She has got IT!!! flaunt it.

Sarah is a very attractive lady.
Whatever she wears I would believe would be fitting.
How dare some people put her down for her her dress choices.
I am a male and find her very professional and whilst I find her extremely attractive, I am very attentative to her newsreading also!Barry Monday 10 January, 2011 - 11:54 PM -
Funny how the "time and place" arguments are ignored when the subject of public breast feeding is raised. Apparently no-one is allowed to object to a whole boob being popped out on a bus, in a cafe or even in parliament, yet a newsreader comes within 3 inches of exposing a nipple and suddenly it's a scandal?? Get over yourselves, Neil and Nicole.
