Six charged over hideous assault

Posted by: 3AW Radio | 11 March, 2010 - 2:28 PM

Five men and a youth have been charged by Sexual Crime Squad detectives with the sexual assault of two teenage girls in Wonthaggi last weekend.

The charges follow an incident which occurred about 10pm on Saturday at a house.

Two 18-year-olds, a 19, 22 and 25-year-old, all from Wonthaggi, have been charged with eight counts each of sexual penetration of a child under 16 and one count each of committing an indecent act in the presence of a child.

The men have been bailed to appear at the Morwell Magistrates court on Tuesday 16 March.

The 16-year-old youth has been bailed to appear at a Childrens' court at a later date.

  • Totally agree with SBY. My heart goes out to the girls involved and also to their parents. Hopefully they are getting all the support they need. My daughter was sexually abused as a teenager and thankfully after much counselling, love and support she is on her way to recovery. To those ignorant people, it isn't the clothing or appearance of young girls, it's the lack of respect and sickness of the perpertrators.

  • I hear you sick of excuses. Parenting doesnt begin at 13 and 15. It starts from the day they were born. Love and discipline go hand in hand. Its the underage children I feel sorry for. The ones that were involved and the ones that were there. What is their future? I hope its not to late. Im not a perfect parent, far from it! But please parents that are invovled in this very sad incident. Talk to your kids, listen to your kids because they are hurting.

  • Justamum, you have hit the nail on the head. Get facts people before passing judgement. Under no circumstances do I condone sexual advances to minors and yes I do have girls, but face facts and get control. I never was allowed to party with older men when I was 13 or even 15. I will never ever allow my children to either. Stop being your childs friend and step up to the plate and become a parent!! I am refering to all involved here........the alleged victims psrents and the alleged attackers parents. Grow some brains and act your age and show some form of dicipline.

  • I agree it is easy to point the finger at those involved.
My son was there on that night but was no way involved in the alledged sexual attack.I trusted him that night he was supposed to be staying at a friends house and not going anywhere but he let me and himself down by going to that house that evening.Where do we as parents draw the line where trust is concerned? Do we trust them and let them have some freedom without questions or do we lock them up until they are 18 I just don't know !!With peer pressure, drugs, alcahol and now sex attacks on young girls I think maybe the latter is the better option. One thing is forsure there will be no winners out of all this!!!

  • Please dont generalise and say all girls and boys are subjecting themselves to this sort of behaviour on a Saturday night. Its not true I work with children of this age, most are the sort of people that you just love being around.
I have heard different stories about what happened on this night and it is sickening. Which ever story you listen to. Sickening and sad that there is no respect of themselves and of others. Each case has to be looked at seperately.

  • It's easy to point the finger at people involved. But I think that we need to all have a good look at society and our own morals. Our morals are going out the window, there is no discipline from parents and we are always too happy to blaim everyone except ourselves. Get tough, discipline our children, don't give them too many choices and understand that you are the parent NOT THEM!!!!

To the girls who were a victim to this disgusting crime I am sad that you were allowed out so late at your young age and this dreadful thing has eventuated from innocence and lack of appropriate parenting. To the boys you should be disgusted in yourselves, mayb some time in a cell will teach you some respect and consideration for others.
Finally for the rest of society, WAKE UP, DISCIPLINE OUR CHILDREN, KEEP THEM HOME AT NIGHT AND TAKE CONTROL!

I hope one day our society will turn around for the better!!!
