Sly with the latest on Rockefeller

ABOVE: The Hadfield house where police allege Rockefeller was killed.
EXCERPT OF SLY'S REPORT: The tragic case of Herman Rockefeller continues.
Police have seized a chainsaw as part of that investigation and the sad reality is the experts may never be able to determine a cause of death in that case.
The police have been able to establish that the last phonecall placed by Mr Rockefeller was to the woman who is now charged with his murder. He also made a phonecall to his family to say he'd be late home that evening (Thursday, January 21).
On a broader approach in that case, have a look at this, it was a missing person case but because of the circumstances homicide were called in immediately because one of the people who took the initial report had homicide experience and said 'I'm not happy with this'.
Late on Wednesday information came forward to suggest this was a full-blown homicide investigation resulting in charges being laid within around 48 hours.
That is the best example of how police can work and when details of the case come out you will see what sort of fantastic work was done.
But there are many missing people, and if it wasn't such a high profile person - if it hadn't gone to the right hands - what would have happened if it went to homicide in a week or two weeks? It would have been a very, very difficult case.
Previously, we had a 'suspicious missing persons unit' in the police force where all these cases would come to and they would make judgements.
Mark my words, there are missing person cases where people have been murdered and the case has gone to homicide too late and they may never be solved.
Once the trail is cold it is very, very difficult.
NOTE: Sly then asked listeners if the 'suspicious missing persons' unit should be re-instated?
'Murder' accused face court
MONDAY UPDATE:
The couple charged with murdering Melbourne multi-millionaire Herman
Rockefeller were this morning remanded in custody by Victoria's Chief
Magistrate. Read more.

Few people murdered haven't supped with some devil at sometime. Please don't ask me to consider him a hero. It remains to be seen if Herman's wife is involved. How could she not know ?I admit to being goulishly interested. The church-going family is related to the US clan, so why lie? Herman wanted excitement and got it. He'd had every advantage and chose to seek thrills. He knew the risks and what would happen to his family. Stop glorifying rich people. Few get rich without cheating or doing down other people.I'm just glad he was mean enough to sell his mobile and give the Police an edge. I await the next episode with batede breath.

My heart goes out to his poor family and the wonderful police who have to do such a difficult job investigating a grisly and horrible murder.
Police are amazing people. I am amazed how quickly there was a breakthrough in this case.
