Soldiers remembered at Fromelles

PLAYING NOW: Journalist from The Age, Andrew Rule, crosses to Ross and John from Fromelles.

REPORT: 250 Australian and British soldiers, killed in the battle of Fromelles have been remembered during a moving ceremony.

The troops have finally been laid to rest after their bodies were discovered in a mass grave three years ago.

Governor-General Quentin Bryce paid tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I heard a rendition of Waltzing Matilda/Last Post by the Aust Army Band at Fromelles Tuesday morning on 3aw, does anyone know a way of hearing it again, I've tried you tube etc but nothing there...

This was a wonderful, heart wrenching Ceremony to Honour these brave Diggers.
Without deflecting from the Service itself, Credit must go to Lambos Englazos and his helpers who are most directly responsible for locating the pits where the Diggers rested for 93 years. He then met a lot of resistance from our Authorities to have these pits investigated.
