Shorten embroiled in controversy?

UPDATE: A Federal investigation into a Treasury Department leak against the Liberal Party during the election campaign is expected to be completed within days.

The Opposition is refusing to agree to the independents demands that all their election promises be submitted to Treasury before the Independents decide who to support in a minority government.

Finance Spokesperson Andrew Robb says they will  happily comply once the investigation identifies the 'Treasury Mole'.

EARLIER: One of the three key Independents, who will hold the balance of power in the next Federal parliament, says it's possible Australia will have to go back to the polls.

The Independents issued Tony Abbott and Prime Minister Julia Gillard with a list of seven demands, including submitting their election policies to treasury for costing.

Ms Gillard says she is likely to agree, after taking advice on the request, but Mr Abbott has refused, saying he doesn't trust treasury to properly cost his policies.

Independent Tony Windsor says while his refusal isn't a deal-breaker, it isn't good for the Coalition's chances of forming a Minority government.

  • Barney is your typical ignorant Liberal~! Drongos? Just for a change, why don't you check out their scholastic achievements? These guys are no dummies. The biggest problem for Liberals is that they just DON'T get it~! People are NOT swallowing your usual crap~! They want REAL representation & a voice in this country's (process) of democracy & parliament~! People are tired of the worn out 'one or the other' routine~! They want realistic options, not just MORE propaganda & spin~!

  • Milton really is amusing~! His idea is to sack everyone, totally dispose of democracy & replace it with a Liberal Party dictatorship! Typical Liberal Party insanity~! The reason the Greens have become so attractive is because they represent a public voice for disillusioned voters not wanting to follow the usual Liberal/Labor self serving crap~! You were kicked out of government at the last election for a reason, and obviously expected this election to be a formality. WRONG as per usual~! You just can't read public sentiment. Milt, the Chilcott inquiry in the UK will conclude at the end of this year. My advice to Howard is to not make any long term plans. I can assure you he won't be the only Liberal hack facing the Hague~! JUSTICE will be done~!

  • Abbott has noting to lose by refusing to be ransomed by a small bunch of peasants.
Lets see if these drongos are fair dinkum. Lets have a quick plebiscite in their seats and determine the real feelings of their own constituents on the grounds of deal with Labor or deal with Libs. Bet all three will hold their heads in shame.
They are just selfish egomaniacs who believe they represent all their electorates' views.

  • Tony's refusal to release the coalition's policies for scrutiny by Treasury now that the election is over makes me wonder if the leak might have come from the coalition itself. It is a plausible senario that to avoid independent scrutiny of the major part of their policies that a contrived "black hole" that could be explained was included in the batch of policies given to Treasury and leaked to the medio so that they could cry foul and refuse to send the more contentious modeling for scrutiny. If the police can't find a leak from Treasury or the Treasurer's Office, I suggest they look in the Coalition's own backyard.

  • Julia stated she would not move into the lodge until elected by the people. If she gains power, she won't have been elected by the people so does this mean she won't move into the lodge.

  • I am ready to vote again to help sort out the crazy situation which is happening now. We have been ripped off. To Tony Abbott, stick by your guns, don't bow down to this lot, Labor will definitely lose next time.
