Tony Abbott's parental leave policy
PLAYING NOW: Neil Mitchell has his say on Tony Abbott's parental leave policy.
RELATED CONTENT:
REPORT: The Opposition's parental leave policy has been described as 'inequitable' with business claiming low-paid mothers would be worse-off under the scheme.
The Liberals say parents should be given six months off on full pay to look after a newborn - but business would have to pay a levy to fund the scheme.
Heather Ridout from the Australian Industry Group says it's a flawed plan.
Employers plan to fight Mr Abbott's plan to tax them to cover the cost of six months paid parental leave.
Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner says the scheme will enforce unecessary costs on business.

Tony Abbott a knight in shining armour a real challenge to Kevin Rudd,Until now that is , this decision to give 6 months paid maternity leave is Abbotts downfall , as a male I want to be paid to watch the foorball to attend the F1 ,to go to the horse races , and what if after the 6 months of pay the female decides not to return will she have to pay the money back? next they will want tax free nappies ,Girls stop your whinning, when you do the same amount of work as the male you can be paid the same, eg why do you play 3 sets in tennis but want to be paid the same as the male players? this policy has the same smell about it as did the roof insulation policy , never introduce a policy that has the word laid in it

It does not matter what Tony Abbott says or offers the ACTU and employers will never be happy, Employers whinged about Labors policy and the ACTU applauded, Abbott offers a better deal for women and the ACTU argues, just shows they are self indulgent and are not interested in better conditions for workers, just look at their response to the new fair work scheme, Unions in uproar over it and not a word from Burrows and clan

So do the Liberals believe in paid maternity leave or not?
Abbott said it would happen "over his dead body".
Now they propose a Great Big New Tax to fund maternity leave.
A non-core promise, no doubt!
Do they believe in climate change or not?
Abbott says it is "absolute crap" - yet he proposes a Great Big Con Job climate 'policy'
The Liberals cannot be trusted - except to rip off the poor and give to the rich.

Yep, its a potential new tax/levy on business (if Abbott wins office). However, i ask of the government, what is lurking in the Henry Review of Taxation that causes you to not want to provide the details." What little nasties are in there that wont be released until after the election? Is it as Lawrie Oakes said last week, I have spoken to some Labor sources and compared to the GST which was one nasty, this contains ten." Will the "nasties" be on super concessions, medicare, business taxes? What? Come on media, ask the questions.
