Wellington Rd speed camera debate
The Neil Mitchell program has been campaigning for 12 months about the apparently faulty Wellington Rd speed camera on Eastlink.
The program has received hundreds of your calls throughout that time, with listener after listener outraged that they had been fined for traveling at an excessive speed, on most occasions 108km/h, when in actual fact they were well under the limit.
Until now police have denied any problems with the camera. Tests have been conducted by VicRoads and the camera has been found to be in perfect working order. Try telling that to the hundreds who have had to cop a fine.
So who's right? We want to hear from you. If you have been stung by the dodgy Wellington Rd speed camera on Eastlink, let us know by providing a comment below filling us in on all the details; date, time, speed recorded etc.
Let Neil Mitchell go into battle for you.

Just received 2 fines at Wellington rd bridge one day after each other and on both occasions, I had my cruise control activated
What about all the other camera points along the way?
I will fight this one

For the last 18 months I have travelled the length of Eastlink, including the Wellington Rd bridge, between 2 and 4 times a day. I use my speed control and have NEVER received a ticket. I know my speedo is accurate at 100kph. The amount of drivers who speed and then slow down when they approach a camera position is staggering and most likely the reason they get booked. If these cameras were faulty as some people claim, there is no way I would have escaped getting a ticket.

Yeah got one on Eastlink - Dandenong Rd Bypass bridge Keysborough ( north bound)
for the elleged speed of 107 kmh.
I know where these cameras are and i drive deliberately 5 km under simply co's i don't trust them .. and i still get this - there is no doubt in my mind something wierd is going on with these.
It's amazing how many complains i've read on various sites over the net about people getting done for 107-108 kmh ... a little too coincidental if you ask me.
Surely a full on investigation should be held into this .. and a special defense team soley dealing with Eastlink fines. This is nothing but a rort - not using Eastlink any more ... if your as morally corrupt as to hold any shares in Eastlink, i really do hope you lose the lot.Mickster Sunday 31 July, 2011 - 9:48 AM -
Just received a fine stating that I was detected at 108kms/h and alleged speed at 105km/h at the Wellington Road Bridge. I have been driving for 30 years and have never had a speeding fine and had my cruise control set at 100kms !!!

Ken Lay says (THEY!) have tested them and consider them to be accurate, GEE! isn't that the same as giving the lunatics the keys to the Asylum.
two things that stand out here.
1, when are they being tested, in all types of weather, particularly when it is raining, the sensors in the road are FAULTY.
2, they need to be tested thouroughly by a completely independet organisation.Simon Sunday 10 July, 2011 - 3:01 PM -
I have also received a fine for detected 108km/h and alleged 105km/h on 19th June. I was just travelling at a leasurely Sunday pace to visit my father. There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that these figures are false. Are we just supposed to pay up and shut up?
