Mark Latham is urging Australians to vote informal

Share

Mark Latham has urged voters to cast an informal vote at Saturday's Federal election.

Inciting informal votes was illegal under the Commonwealth Electoral Act, until that part of the law was repealed.

The former Labor leader has used his debut as a reporter to ask for the boycott at the ballot box.

To a certain extent, Neil Mitchell agrees with Latham .. when will the two leaders really stand up to be counted?

Ross and John speak to Phil Diak from the Australian Electoral Commission about whether Mark Latham has broken the law by encouraging people to submit a blank ballot paper.

  • Latham will get his ultimate ego-hit when he sees a rise in donkey votes because of his advice to voters. Power mad? You bet he is. No donkey vote for me this time, even though I was previously thinking about it. Latham can shove his ego, I'm not stroking it....

  • @Janet. House prices set themselves. The only thing that artificially inflates them is the dreaded 1st homebuyers scheme. That and the fact Australian employers refuse to pay a fair wage so anyone from a half decent economy can easily afford Aussie properties. It all goes back to Bob Hawke's wages accord. Our living wage slipped so much that we'll never catch up to the rest of the world.

  • Dale and Mylene, are you both for real, its a well know fact that Migrants, Illegals, Refugees are the reason why house prices are so bloody ridiculously high, and dont go on about they have No money, they have a very corrupt system to bring money into our country, un-detected. And they are rorting our Welfare system at the same time.

  • Vinit,

you vote for the party not the individual. If you dont like either of liberal or labor basically you are stuffed. But lets face it both parties have governed this country over the past and its certianly not a bad place to live. Obviuosly better than where ayou came from, so I dont understand why you cannot find a suitable candidate to vote for or are you being too greedy and not recognising just how good we all have it here.
