REPORT: A group of Xavier students has been sent home from a New Zealand school camp in disgrace after going on a four-hour shoplifting spree worth $5,000.

The boys, aged 14 to 17, were on a school camp in Queenstown where they stole ski goods from seven different stores.

The boys avoided being arrested when the school's teachers took the matter into their own hands.

Most of the stolen goods have been retrieved and the boys passports have been flagged.

Queenstown reporter James Beach says the group were without teacher supervision for four hours when the offences occured.

  • For someone who is singing the praises of private education, the spelling and grammar of the indignant 'none of your business' poster is absolutely shocking.

  • andrew u have no right to disrespect xavier it is a great school with loads of great qualities, michael ur just weird if u think kids should be flogged. why dont u be a flaggelant and flog yourself (knowone cares about your opinion). and the first person you cant generalise this to private schools just because u didnt get an opportunity to go to one u shouldnt offend people who go to them.

  • TO ALL - a message from GOD
Let thou who hath not stolen cast the first scathing criticism... oh wait, you have most likely all stolen one thing or another in you life whether as a child or adult. Hpyocrities. Funny how you all love to stand back and criticise and have a go at people when you have no doubt done similar things. They are kids, they we will learn from their mistakes. THankfully no-one got injured or anything etc. It is reversible damage and unfair for all you people to pay out on people's mistakes when you have no doubt committed similar crimes. Maybe not to the tune of 5 grand but the price is insignificant it is the prinicple. Plus to further attack the fact that they are from a private school is a step down from racisim. Abusing people from where they come, or how they have chosen to lead their life (i.e. parents sending them to a private school) it leaves you with little wonder that the world is in such shambles. If everyone cared and stuck out for one another nothing like this would happen, or if it did at least people would learn and reconcile. Mistakes are part and parcel of human existence, let the boys learn. From the comments above it appears many of us have a lot to learn as well!
