'A big week in politics'
Caricature by John Shakespeare, Fairfax
Julia Gillard’s Sunday Bloody Sunday seems to be such a long time ago. It was at the start of this week and to use the time honored term - what a big week in politics.
I am keen to hear your views on who you thought won the week between all the combatants and in particular I want to know whether you have changed your mind on the implementation of the carbon tax.
Did Julia Gillard outperform Tony Abbott and what about Bob Brown how did you see his week or do you feel the Greens have been lost in the debate this week and all their oxygen has been stolen by the Government.
The independents Tony Winsor and Rob Oakshott started the week strong but we hardly saw them again after the first day or so and I am wondering whether that was a deliberate ploy on their behalf or not.
Can you put up with another two years of this presidential campaign like the one we have witnessed this week or are you at saturation point now and happy never to hear another word about the dreaded carbon tax.
RE-PLAY Peter's interview with Matt Mcdonald, 3AW Canberra Bureau
The one thing Julia Gillard and her government want to hear is that you have changed your mind on the carbon tax and you are now embracing what is being offered by her government.
Tony Abbott on the other hand has stated that he will continue to decry this tax until the next election whenever that may be. The one thing Tony Abbott does not want to see in front of the media spotlight is those questioning his policy on carbon emissions. He and his party agree we need to limit carbon emissions and Tony Abbott is on the record as someone who believes in climate change.
It has really been quite a bizarre week it sounds, smells and tastes like the first week of an election campaign – but we do not have another election planned for two years.
Reputations are made and broken in political times like the one we are experiencing at the moment and I am sure the winner and the loser whoever they may be will never forget the week that just was.

The Bob Brown Show
Neil Mitchell interviewed Bob Brown on Friday (although many have suggested it was the other way around) on the subject of the Greens' leader's calls for a media inquiry in the wake of a UK scandal. Necessary, or opportunism? Click on the image to listen.
