Gillard ignores terrible polls, again
Julia Gillard says her resolve has not been shaken by the latest Nielsen poll which shows a record low of 26 per cent support for Labor.
The Coalition holds a massive 61 to 39 per cent two-party preferred lead.
Ms Gillard's personal satisfaction rating has plummeted and she now trails Tony Abbott as preferred PM by 11 points.
But the Prime Minister has dismissed claims she is the reason for the the bad polls and says she will plough on with carbon tax.
Meantime, betting agencies have suspended bets on the Labor leadership after a huge plunge on one time leader Simon Crean.
'A big week in politics'
MAHER: "Can you put up with another two years of this presidential campaign like the one we have witnessed this week or are you at saturation point now and happy never to hear another word about the dreaded carbon tax?"

Actually, seriously, I want to compliment Liberal Party Central for their brilliant strategy. Let's be totally honest, one only has to read 10% of the comments posted on this site & many others, to realize this country (and probably the world) is full of sub standard ignorant 'ferals', who really should not be part of the gene pool. Ultimately, this strategy will have a cleansing effect, thus saving us the cost of a war to reduce populations to a manageable level. Germany probably had the right idea back in the 30's. We could combine ethnic cleansing with religious extermination in one hit. The cost of living will go through the roof, food production will drop dramatically in contrast to rising food prices & scarcity, thus creating massive unrest & total anarchy. It's nature's way - survival of the fittest. What storms & fire damage doesn't achieve, total anarchy will. We could then weed out all the corrupt, wasteful officials & bureaucrats, and eventually democratically appoint our own people to manage a much smaller society with a New World order appointed government. We could easily briefly survive without the need for a cumbersome system of law & government, particularly when curb side justice could achieve the same result, for a fraction of the cost. All assets would ultimately become public property, & we start from scratch. I'm definitely 100% PRO on this one - LET'S ROCK~! Steve, you submitted substandard propaganda as journalism. I criticised it. If you can't handle criticism, tough titty~! Find another occupation~!

The previous comment was not designed or intended to detract from the very important comments that have been presented. Or the credibility of the people who have presented these comments. This issue has both the potential to cost the citizens of our great nation further disbursement that we simply cannot afford to pay if we are to sustain our current level of existence and the potential irreparable damage our environment that will also deplete our level of existence. To adequately address the critically important issue we need reduce the overhead that government represents and we also need to allocate funds from the existing revenue towards a transition from black power to green power. Certain partys state green power cannot do this. This comes from obvious sources and it ia as dishonest as the government initiative. Government tax incentives could see photovoltaic systems on every house in the nation for less cost than the carbon SCAM. This alone would make a profound difference. Similar tax incentives to industry could see wind turbines that meet the demand of that sector within a few years. The problem is almost eliminated. Similar incentives could provide the coal industry with a means to make the large scale transition within 5 years. There is no more problem. The use of geothermal is an extreme gamble. We understand little of what effect this may have on the ability of the earth to maintain its position in space, gravity, its electric field and so many other exigencies. This process literally has the potential to shift the earth and end all existence within. The heat within the earth is intrinsic with the magnetism and gravity of the earth and it is most certainly finite. If we are to survive we must address climate and government.
