Derryn Hinch in hospital with a new liver

HINCH ON FRIDAY: "Barrelling along. I've had a shower, had a shave. Going for a couple of walks today. Had the naso-gastric tube taken out of my stomach. Liver and bile duct working well. Feel terrific. If I could con them, I'd go back to work but they are too smart for me."

THURSDAY: Derryn Hinch's medical team says its unsure whether the broadcaster will be well enough to attend his court hearing in two weeks.

Hinch has been moved out of intensive care and into a ward at the Austin Hospital.

He's been up and about on Thursday and walking with the aid of a frame.

Hinch is due to be sentenced in court on July 21 for breaching suppression orders by naming sex offenders.

But he says there's a big battle to go through before that.

Derryn Hinch received a life-changing phone call while he was farewelling a 3AW colleague on Tuesday night and now has a new, donated, liver.
