A 19-year-old woman from Hoppers Crossing has been killed in a collision in Werribee South on Thursday night.

Emergency service crews were called to the intersection of Diggers and Whites Roads at 11.20pm after a car containing seven young people struck a tree.

The deceased woman was believed to be a rear passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene.

One man was trapped in the Nissan hatchback before being freed and airlifted to hospital along with another man, both in a life-threatening condition.

Four others, including the driver, were been taken to hospital and are listed as serious but stable.

Meanwhile, a pursuit that started in Airport West on Friday morning has ended at Melbourne Airport where the driver allegedly crashed through a boom gate and tried to ram a steel gate before stopping.

Three teenagers were in the car.

One of the youths surrendered himself to police and after the others fled they were picked up by the dog squad.

Blog comments Your Say

  • I can understand the anger & frustration in some of the comments made on this news, but they are just kids, my heart goes out to the families, problem is we are not letting our kids grow up these days, they are so over protected, literally reaching adult years with no understanding of consequences, they are never disciplined any more, you cannot even verbally correct kids any more, when my daughter was in Primary school one of her teachers took me to task because I had underlined my daughters spelling mistake. I was told this was bad for her self esteem, how will she know it is incorrect I asked, she will pick it up I was told??
Even exercise/play equipment is being removed in case they fall, well falling teaches us to be careful, this how we learn between safe actions and dangerous ones.

  • Would testoterone filled drivers go around all alone for a weird drive if there were NO onboard admirers? Right. Unfortunately the other 5 got away. They deserve the same fate. Full stop.

  • Andrew, you are spot on,the roads around the market garden area not good but driver attitude needs to change, regardless of the type of car most young drivers try to impress their friends, and do not drive to the conditions of the roads wet or dry...

  • The Werribee South area around the Market Gardens as been used as Raceway since well before the days of the XU1 Toranas & The GT Falcons. There will always be testosterone fuelled Individuals who will get down there to test their supposed driving skills.Fixing the roads is not going to change some driving attitudes.
