Joel Selwood to captain Geelong

Joel Selwood faces a lengthy ban if unsuccessful

Joel Selwood has been named Geelong's captain following the 2011 retirement of former skipper Cameron Ling.

The 23-year-old is widely considerd to be one of the most courageous players in the AFL, and despite being just 23, he has long been mooted to take on the role.

Brownlow Medalist and fellow gun midfielder, Jimmy Bartel, has been named as vice-captain.

Other players in the Cats' leadership group are; Steve Johnson, James Kelly, Harry Taylor, Corey Enright and Joel Corey.
