Swan wins Brownlow Medal
Scroll down for a look at the Blue Carpet Photo Gallery
Collingwood's Dane Swan has added some spice to his Grand Final preparation by winning the 2011 Brownlow Medal, saving the AFL embarrassment by earning more votes than ineligible Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell.
Swan polled a record 34 votes to win by four from Hawthorn's inelgible star Sam Mitchell, who pleaded guilty for contact on Geelong's Steve Johnson in round five and received a reprimand.
St Kilda midfielder Nick Dal Santo had the third-most votes (28).
Carlton captain and pre-count favourite, Chris Judd, polled with 23 votes.

is it just me or does mr dane swan have absolutely no personality? It was quite embarressing seeing his doting girlfriend constantly trying to gee him up only to see his dead pan reaction. What a cold and aloof character, personality obviously has nothing to do with the brownlow.

I don't want to see the footballers' girlfriends with their gratuitous fashion sense and their unbridled narcissism. Go away, girls, we're sick of you. Your vanity doesn't belong at the Brownlow.

Your beautiful girlfriend was smiling all night and you Swan could not even smile.
You ignored this lovely all night with your sour face, sweetie go out with someone who will appreciate you.Vera Tuesday 27 September, 2011 - 6:14 PM -
Channel 7 - surely you don't think this ostentatious, gratuitous, self-serving, self adulation 'flesh fest' for footballer's partners & clothing designers comes even close to entertainment? Congrats to Dane & the other champion footballers, but as for the rest of it - absolute meaningless drivel~! Boringggg.... Leanne Edelsten - what has she got to do with an AFL football award night? Edelsten perfectly demonstrates - money can't buy you everything~!

The vote made a mockery of the Rising Star award, Heppell 4 votes, Shuey 12, at least the umpires got it right.
