Bali bombers - your say
Let's flash back a bit. Remember the Bali bombers and their obscene behaviour in court?
And then there were the interviews. How they couldn't wait to be martyrs. Couldn't wait to die for the cause. They wouldn't appeal against their death sentences because it was all done for the glory of Allah and Nirvana awaited them.
Their deaths would be for such a noble cause. Their sacrifice would live on. So what happened? Since then they have appealed to every possible court.
And now they are even challenging the constitutionality of the death penalty and claiming that their constitutional and human rights would be violated if they suffered pain while being executed by gunfire.
We want to be martyrs but don't hurt us. Bit like Joan of Arc saying 'Burn me at the stake … but keep a fire hose handy'.
These are the same ruthless killers who didn't give a damn about the pain suffered by their victims who were torn to bits and many of whom suffered agonising days of pain from burns that were eventually fatal. Not to mention the physical and mental pain still suffered by the survivors of the Bali bombings and the loved ones of those who died.
They have turned a desperate last legal effort into a farce before the Indonesian Constitutional Court. Originally they planned to call East Timorese militia thug Eurico Guterres to testify as an expert witness because he had seen people suffering the agony of being shot. I guess the fact that he had often been the shooter made him an expert witness.
In the end they had a Catholic priest, Father Charlie Burrows, give a graphic account of the firing squad execution of two Nigerian heroin traffickers last June.
The priest witnessed the executions and gave grisly details of how the men took seven minutes to die after being shot. Such suffering, and incompetence, is unforgivable even though the hooded prisoners had been strapped to a wooden frame, a target had been pinned above their heart, and they were shot from only a metre away.
But what is being overlooked here is that heroin traffickers in Indonesia know they could be sentenced to death by firing squad. And that includes the Australians on death row.
And in the case of the Bali Bombers: they said they couldn't wait to get to heaven - with or without the 72 promised virgins, I guess - and the sooner they get their wish the better.

Please remember the words of Our Lord who said 'Turn the other cheek' and 'He that is without sin let him cast the first stone'. We must never take life in any circumstance. It is up to God to decide and He has a reason for everything and maybe even the terrible events that happen. IF YOU READ AND AGREE WITH THIS; YOURE A BLOODY IDIOT.

About time they put out the garbage !!!!
Would of been nice if some of the victims families were given the choice of putting out the trash. Putting it out slowly though.
Eye for an Eye.A New Breed Of West ..
Many people dont support death penalties....many people also dont support murdering people either one would think. I gather you condone the freedom to kill innocent people but not kill the not so innocent.
Hooray !!! Sunday 9 November, 2008 - 10:25 PM -
A dead terrorist is one less nuter plotting killings on innocent people, 3 dead terrorists now that is significant and we should certainly not stop there and continue to eradicate this plague using their same language.

"The right to life"...yes this does apply and i agree with it..but this comes as a privilege!! As soon as those men took other peoples lives into their own hands they lost that privilege! yes it is inhuman, but why should we run and hide and let these men get away with such a cruel and merciless crime! If it was me i would shot every toe off and make it slow..suffer how the innocent victims did, if you don't agree with there punishment, think about the people who died and suffered. I heard on the radio one guy lost 5 of his mates and he, himself was in hospital for 4 weeks and nearly lost both legs due to gangrene. All of this could be been prevented, those victims would still be alive and happy today....let them burn a slow and painful death!

Why was my last comment not posted? Is this some kind of censorship to silence those that don't agree with you, Derryn? If so, you should AT LEAST shoot an email to me to inform me of the fact so that I can be reminded that the press does NOT litigate the truth. They publicise their own agendas.
