Derryn Hinch

3AW Drive host Derryn Hinch is holidaying Hawaii, but he is sending through a few bits and pieces to share his viewson our new Prime Minister - Julia Gillard.

NEWS FLASH 2:

'A hairdresser is now Australia's first lady.'

NEWS FLASH 1:

Presciently, just over a week ago when I went on two weeks leave, I wrote:

'They say a week is a long time in politics so what will the next fortnight bring? Will the anti-mining tax brigade spook Kevin Rudd into rowing back big time? Will those Labor pollies in marginal seats in Queensland and Western Australia try to pressure Rudd into softening the war on the mining companies or will they be eager ears for any Gillard promoters?

Well those ears were more than eager. The backroom boys brought on a challenge to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd overnight to turf him and replace him with his 'loyal' deputy Julia Gillard.

I'll have a special Hinch Says later in the day...

Neil shows Rudd the door

VIDEO BLOG: Neil Mitchell says 'soon to be ousted' Prime Minister Kevin Rudd only has himself to blame after an unprecedented fall from grace. 'Kev from Queensland' is around an hour away from being officially ousted.

Blog comments Your Say

  • Well I was flabergasted.
Just this week the Western World agreed to halve debt by 2013, except Australia who will be back into surplus.
Yet we lost the bloke who got us here, how quickly we lose our memories.

So I expect to see Ms Gillard to play in a footy match this season and appear in a Bradd pit blockbuster by next fall.

I see her costume has changed rapidly from the pinstripe to the cotuire.
How Cactus got it so right with "Oh Cruddy, why do I have to do it again?"

  • Can the Media dedicate an Hourly program on how our democracy and Political party structure works in this Nation. It would benefit so many voters that only see the leader and not the party and policies. It is not their fault, most simply just don't understand basic politics and political parties which make the changes that effect us all. At the end of the day the Leader is a spokesman for the Party but not the problem. We vote for a Party not Personalities or the spokesman folks. The Party picks the leader. Not the public.

  • First female Prime Minister, First female Premier of NSW, First female Premier of Queensland, Female Govenors and female Govenor Generals seems that the labor power brokers who are all male puppeteers hiding behind the ladies skirts to try and get them selves back into power. Girls don't forget who is pulling your strings and only whilst they need you. One day there will be a female PM a female Premier, a female Govenor General or Govenor who earned their way on thier own achievments, this Female PM was the only alternative sitting on the bench.

  • Fresh new change?? I don't think so. It's far more likely to be a return to Labor in the 1970s - slaves of the union movement. They've lost me.
